Be a Comment Angel

Trust My Friend Amy to come up with a terrific idea. She has started a movement to comment on a few friends' blogs every day.

I love this idea.  I was out of commission for much of this summer due to surgery and recovery.  I did very few reviews and I did practically no visiting of other blogs.  Sometimes circumstances are such that life often gets in the way of blogging.

I've been doing this blog for 5 years and over that time, I've seen changes.  Twitter and Facebook have changed the way many people review.  I think it has also changed how people comment.  Spammers have also changed blogging and forced many of us to use Captcha.  It's annoying, but I use it because it does eliminate spammers. However, it does add extra time to posting a comment because so often the first try doesn't work!  Periodically, I take it down and then back up it goes.

As book bloggers, we put a lot of time and effort into reviews and posts.  It's gratifying to get a thoughtful comment and recognition for our work.  So, for this reason, I loved Amy's post.  Check it out for yourself to see what she says.  Her suggestion is to pick one or two blogs and just comment on those blogs every day or every post for a month.  I don't know that I will do that, but I will be making a conscious effort to comment more and not just read everything through my Google Reader.  I will also be making a conscious effort to visit those bloggers who comment on my posts. I have discovered new blogs and new friends that way.

What about you?  Are you on board?

  2. This is a great idea! I don't know if I could comment every post but it would sure be fun to try. I have gotten away from posting and commenting since going back to work. I need to be better about reading and commenting.

  4. I think that's a great idea. I try to visit and comment on all those who comment on my blog. It gives me a sense of who's visiting and what they like.
