Booking Through Thursday...Records

Do you keep a list of the books you’ve read? How? In a journal? Through one of the online services? If so, WHY? To keep good records for future reference? To make sure you don’t accidentally reread? If not, why not? Too eager to move on to the next book? Too lazy? Never thought to bother?

Great question. The reason I started this book blog was to remember what books I'd read and what I though about them.  I had no idea about the far reaching effects of the book blogging world.  Through blogging, I discovered Goodreads and it was life changing because it gave me the ability to record books I wanted to read. Blogging led me to discover new books to read and I really had no way of remembering them, other than a notebook or something. Once I started using Goodreads, it was fantastic.  Since I use my library quite often, I can just log onto my library's page and have my Goodreads list open at the same time and I know exactly what book I want to request.

Sometimes I think my memory is fading and having my blog lets me remember that I not only read a book, but what I thought of it. If I'm curious about having read a book, Goodreads lets me check on that book quickly.

  1. I use GoodReads and Library Thing but don't keep up with them like I should. My blog is a much more accurate record of what I've read.

  3. My blog is the best way for me to remember books I've read. Sometimes, I go back and read my review on a book I read 4 years ago and I'm surprised at what I wrote about it. It helps me to learn more about myself.

  8. I like Goodreads also, each time I get a new book I record it in my 'to read' shelf. It keeps track of all the books I've read, and all the books I have, but haven't read. It also keeps track of the book I'm currently reading. My blog only has on it the books I've read in 2012, with my thoughts.

    Thanks for the visit today.

  9. I also use my blog to jog my memory about a book. It isn't that I forget reading a book, it's just that reading my own thoughts about it makes me remember all the detail about. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks my memory is fading, too.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  12. I like Goodreads too and my blog is a great way to keep track as well. I easily forget the books I've read, but I think that happens to lots of avid readers. There's so many books to keep track of.
