Booking Through Thursday...Resolved

Any reading resolutions for the new year? Reading more? (Reading less?) Reading better books? Bigger books? More series? More relaxing books?

And hey, feel free to talk about any other resolutions you might have, too … or why you choose NOT to have any.

My only reading goals for the year are to enjoy it and not let myself get stressed over reviewing, blog tours/dates, etc.  I read because I love to read and I sort of stumbled into the reviewing world.  I've realized that I often like books a lot more if I'm not forced to read them by a certain date, so I'm going to limit my scheduled, obligatory reviews.

In my personal life, I have some areas I'm working on...

What about you?  Are you a resolutions person?

  1. Great answer! I definitely agree with enjoying books more when you don't have a deadline. I'm trying to manage all of it and enjoy every book I read, too. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I agree that deadlines can sometimes be stressful. Reading should definitely be fun, not a job.

  5. I have to agree with you. Read more beacuse you want to not because you have to. Great one, thanks for stopping by today I'm going to have to take that one towards myself as well.

  6. I'm not a resolution kind of person, but I have a few goals I would like to reach. I would love to put a dent in my TBR pile this year. And I am not accepting any books to review, unless they are a genre I like to read.

  7. That's why I've become such a fan of NetGalley and Edelweiss--no deadlines, no pressure to finish what I don't like and no piles of books to find new homes for.

  9. I came to those conclusions, too, Holly; and while I still plan to review books, it will mostly be on my time table. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  11. Two years into reviewing books, I'm feeling stressed with all the requests and deadlines too. Time for reading to be fun again! Thanks for visiting my blog.

  12. Great answer! I'm always in stress mode when it comes to deadlines (homework, schoolwork, you get the gist), so when the author doesn't give me a deadline, I kinda enjoy it. Though of course, review requests are always put as priority over my other books when possible.

  14. My goal is the same as yours. Read more books that I want to read and not because they are review books. Good luck this year!

  16. Your thoughts about reviewing are exactly my reasons for not venturing into reviews other than the light ones I did for a Moms Group last year. Here's to more fun in reading for 2013!

  17. I've almost stopped accepting books that have a deadline associated with them, unless it's a book I actually chose in some way. Makes it easier to continue enjoying those books :)
