Whisper on the Wind...Review

About the book:
In Brussels at the height of WWI, a small, underground newspaper is the only thing offering the occupied city hope—and real news of the war. The paper may be a small whisper among the shouts of the German army, but Edward Kirkland will do anything to keep it in print. Meanwhile, Isa Lassone, a Belgian-American socialite whose parents whisked her to safety at the start of the war, sneaks back into the country to rescue those dearest to her: Edward and his mother. But Edward refuses to go, and soon Isa is drawn into his secret life printing the newspaper . . . and into his heart.

Isa Lassone is a headstrong young woman who won't take no for an answer.  She has her heart and mind set on not only returning to, but staying in Belgium even though it's occupied by Germans.  She has complete faith in God that He will protect her and those she loves, and she risks her life to help Edward print his underground newspaper.

Like the first book in The Great War series, this one is filled with charming characters you care about.  Isa is strong-willed and stubborn. So is Edward.  Genny is faithful and Max is an enigma.  The story is suspenseful, quickly draws you in and is not completely predictable.   It's a fast, enjoyable read and one I didn't want to put down.

This is a sequel to Look to the East, and Isa is Charles' sister, but it stands alone well if you haven't read the first book.

  1. I'm sold on the cover alone. The story sounds really interesting. This would be one I could see myself reading.
