#CoverCrush: A Paris Apartment

I will freely admit that I judge books by their covers. The cover is usually what first captures my attention when browsing Goodreads or Netgalley. Actually, in all honesty, it isn't just usually, it's pretty much all the time. The cover determines if I look at the synopsis and reviews.

This cover caught my attention immediately. The stark bright white color scheme is eye-catching. The empty rooms invoke a feeling of anticipation: who left this apartment and how did they live? Who is coming and what will they bring?

The cover choice is interesting, given that the book is about a Paris apartment that has been closed off for 70 years and is virtually unchanged when it is discovered and opened. The apartment would be dusty and filled with furniture and memorabilia. It would not be clean and bright and open. It would, however, bring with it feelings of wonder and curiosity about the inhabitants: who they were, how they lived and why they never returned.

What about you? Any book covers capture your attention this week?

  1. I truly enjoyed this book. You should take The Cherry Harvest out of the TBR pile and start it.
