Love Comes Home...Review

About the book:
World War II is finally over and the people of Rosey Corner are busy welcoming the boys home. The Merritt sisters in particular are looking toward the future. Kate is eager to start a family and live out her dream of happily ever after with Jay. Evangeline wants a beautiful house and encourages Mike to pastor a big-town church. Victoria wants what can never be–a life with a man who will never come back. And little Lorena is growing up and wondering more and more about her birth family.

Through the heartfelt storytelling of bestselling author Ann Gabhart, readers join these endearing characters as they walk an uncertain road. Each sister must learn to hold her plans with a loose hand, trusting that God will guide and strengthen them as they share the joys and sorrows of life in their little corner of the world.

Third in the Rosey Corner trilogy.  The war is over, but the Merritt family is not untouched by it.  Kate and Evangeline eagerly await the return of their husbands and Victoria mourns because Sammy won't be returning with them.  As the sisters each navigate a new future, their roads are not smooth and sure.  Kate and Jay endure a tragedy, Evangeline is as spoiled and selfish as she ever was and wanting more than Mike may be able to give her, Victoria is not sure what to make of a new suitor and Lorena continues to wonder about the birth family who abandoned her and why.

As always, love is what keeps this family together through thick and thin.  The quirky characters of Rosey Corner are back in full force and round out the cast quite nicely.  Love Comes Home is a compelling novel that explores the aftermath of war and its effect on the soldiers and their families.

Ann Gabhart's writing is descriptive and lyrical and she is a master at telling a beautiful story of love and family.

I have loved the Merritt sisters since I first met them in Angel Sister. I was thrilled to see them grow up in Small Town Girl and now, Love Comes Home finishes out the Rosey Corner trilogy.

  2. I must read this one yet. I really enjoyed Ann's last novel very much, which means this one is probably another favorite. :)
