What do you read when you’re sick and just want something easy and comforting? Or do you watch TV instead?(Assuming you’re not napping, of course.)
When I'm sick, the only thing I want to do is sleep. So, if I'm not actually sleeping in my bed, I'm curled up on the couch dozing while I watch something. Illness often makes it hard for me to focus and concentrate, so I don't normally read. I watch Jane Austen movies instead, with a blanket and hot chocolate. If I'm just under the weather, I might curl up with a Rosamund Pilcher book, but inevitably I fall asleep.

For me it also depends on how sick I am, but usually I can't concentrate on reading either. i switch back and forth between napping and watching movies. Love your blog btw :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. I loved the title of yours!
DeleteSleeeeeep. You're right, I generally need something light to read because I can't concentrate. Thanks for visiting my answer. ;-)
ReplyDeleteJane Austen films are fantastic, good choice. I really love the 1995 Pride and Prejudice film, and the Kate Winslet Emma adaptation.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on how sick I am but I generally don't get much read then.
ReplyDeleteI read easy mysteries, like Agatha Christie. though I need to be close to dying to lose my focus for more difficult reading, lol. I remember in my teen years amazing a doctor who came to visit me at home [in the old days in France, we often had home visits]: I had a very high fever, but I was up and writing an essay for my philosophy class!
ReplyDeleteHi Holly,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you are not seriously ill and that you will be feeling better very soon. There has been a very bad sickness bug going around here, although so far hubbie and I have managed to keep clear of it!
When I am ill, which I have to say is a relatively rare occurence, I will generally sleep as much as possible and do nothing. Concentrating on either the television or a book is usually out of the question.
Take Care,
Yvonne
Yvonne, no, I'm not sick! This was just the weekly Booking Through Thursday question. But, I'm with you. Sleep is usually all I want to do when I'm ill.
DeleteSleep is totally what I spend most of the time doing when sick too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my BTT!
When I'm sick and am able to take a day to rest (rare as I WAH and have my wee ones with me), I like to continue whatever I'm currently reading if I"m not too tired to just sleep. If I'm not reading anything that holds my attention, Harry Potter or Poetry are my go-to reads.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a great go-to read. I love picking up those books again!
